POPLAR BLUFF, Mo. -- A Poplar Bluff man remains in serious condition at a St. Louis hospital after he was pulled from the Three Rivers Inn swimming pool.
Carlando M. Richardson, 26, was listed in serious, but stable condition, on Tuesday at St. Louis University Hospital, a hospital spokesman said.
Richardson was taken there after he was found lying at the bottom of the pool at about 2 a.m. Saturday, police reported.
When police arrived, two off-duty emergency room nurses were performing cardio-pulmonary resuscitation on Richardson who was lying on the sidewalk near the pool, police said.
Richardson was transported to Three Rivers Healthcare-North Campus, police said.
Police said a person reported seeing Richardson in a bar about five minutes prior to the incident.
Richardson apparently exited the bar and climbed the locked fence for a swim and ended up at the bottom of the deep end of the pool, police said.
Richardson had been staying at the motel.
He was later transferred to the St. Louis hospital.
