Police continue to investigate a Tuesday shooting that sent one man to the hospital.
Darin Hickey, public information officer for the Cape Girardeau Police Department, said police still did not have a suspect Wednesday in a shooting that occurred Tuesday afternoon in the 900 block of Bloomfield Street, but they are investigating.
Hickey did not know the victim's condition Wednesday but said detectives were trying to talk to him.
Officers believe the victim knew the shooter, Sgt. Jason Selzer of the Cape Girardeau Police Department said Tuesday.
The shooting was the second in the neighborhood in as many weeks.
Last week, a man sustained a gunshot wound to the calf during a robbery attempt at Bloomfield and Hanover streets, less than two blocks west of the shooting Tuesday.
On Monday, someone shot through the window of a passing car in the 1000 block of Bloomfield Street, Hickey said.
"I'm sure the patrols will be stepped up in the area, and obviously detectives are going to be talking to people and witnesses and trying to figure out what's going on from there," he said.
Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call Cape Girardeau police at 335-6621.
"Any little bit always helps," Hickey said.
