A 12-year-old Cape Girardeau girl who is blind has grown particularly fond of music.
A musical teddy bear would make a difference in her Christmas this year.
Her parents are unable to buy such a toy. However, through Toybox, a project shared by the Cape Girardeau Jaycees and Southeast Missourian, the child might still receive the toy she wants.
Toybox has become her only chance to receive a gift over the holidays.
The girl also likes to listen to the radio. She is one of more than 1,000 needy Cape Girardeau children who will benefit from the Toybox project this year.
Many children are asking for dolls, sports equipment such as footballs, basketballs and soccer balls, along with Easy Bake ovens and various other toys that are on the hot list.
A 12-year-old girl is fascinated with Mickey Mouse toys.
Two children from another family, whose ages are 7 and 9, love Bible stories. They both believe that "without Jesus there would be no Santa." A Children's Bible would give them a Christmas they won't soon forget.
Three foster children have asked for any kind of toy to brighten their holiday season.
New, unwrapped toys may be delivered to the Southeast Missourian, 301 Broadway, or to the following Toybox collection sites: West Park Mall, Boatmen's Bank, Capital Bank, Perry Travel Center, Gulliver's Travel Agency, AmeriFirst Bank, Commerce Bank, Roosevelt Bank and Mercantile Bank.
