A tradition, dating to the early days of Jackson High School, continued last weekend.
The annual JHS Silver Arrow Dance was held Dec. 2 -- moved from its traditional early January date.
Wendy Blankenship was crowned Silver Arrow Queen for 2000-2001, while Josh Tomlin was named Big Chief Touchdown. The ceremony was held in the revamped JHS auditorium prior to the dance. It was witnessed by a packed house.
Other queen candidates were Kaci Thompson, Lindsey Meyr, Meredith Lape and Jaci Heath. Other Big Chief candidates were Joe Walter, Blake Suedekum, Jason Brown and Joey Beard. Montana Adams, daughter of Blaine and Linda Adams, was flower girl, while Law Duncan, son of Sam and Melanie Duncan, was crown bearer.
Heather Graham and Cory McElrath served as mistress and master of ceremonies respectively, while Blake Burress sang "What A Wonderful World" and Erika Beasley performed "I'll Be." Also performing was the quintet of Layne Beller, Gary Jones, Craig Schwab, Chris Shank and Andy Young, who sang "This I Promise You."
Nichole Pythress was accompanist, while Scott Brooks provided music and Joe Gibbs and Kyle Newell manned the spotlights. Kelli Seabaugh, Ashley Booker and Heidi Jansen were usherettes. The Silver Arrow yearbook staff took care of decorating, while Elizabeth Holst designed the program cover.
