BISHOP ANNOUNCES NEW PASTORAL ASSIGNMENTS IN DIOCESE

Bishop John J. Leibrecht of the Springfield-Cape Girardeau Diocese, has announced new pastoral assignments affecting Catholic parishes throughout southern Missouri. Most appointments are effective Wednesday.

The Rev. Jay Gibson, newly ordained, is the new associate pastor at St. Vincent's Catholic Church in Cape Girardeau.

The Rev. Frederick J. Lutz, pastor of St. Susanne Parish in Mt. Vernon and St. Patrick Parish in Greenfield, will become pastor of Guardian Angel Parish in Oran.

The Rev. Normand Varone, pastor of Guardian Angel in Oran, will become pastor of St. Denis Parish in Benton.

The Rev. Edward P. Nichols Jr., currently serving in the Archdiocese of St. Louis, will become pastor of St. John Parish in Leopold.

The Rev. Rick L. Jones of Cape Girardeau, currently administrator of St. Catherine of Siena Parish in Piedmont, St. George Parish in Van Buren, and Our Lady of Sorrows Parish in Williamsville, will become associate pastor of St. Canera Parish in Neosho, St. Mary Parish in Seneca, and Nativity of Our Lord Parish in Noel, effective Aug. 24.

The Rev. Michael Zoellner, currently pastor of St. Elizabeth Parish in El Dorado Springs and St. Peter Parish in Stockton, will join the Benedictine monks in St. Benedict Monastery in Atchison, Kan. He was a former associate pastor at St. Mary's Cathedral.

The Rev. M. Oliver Clavin, pastor of St. Francis de Sales Parish in Lebanon, will become pastor of St. Augustine Parish in Kelso, effective Sept. 16.

Msgr. John H. Westhues, pastor of St. Augustine in Kelso, will become pastor of St. Susanne in Mt. Vernon and St. Patrick in Greenfield.

The Rev. Michael J. Casteel, pastor of St. John in Leopold, will become pastor of St. Peter Parish in Joplin.

Msgr. Raymond Orf, pastor of St. Ann Parish in Carthage will become pastor of St. Francis de Sales in Lebanon.
