A Super Bingo scheduled for Saturday at the A.C. Brase Arena Building will help the 150 residents of the Cape Girardeau Missouri Veterans Home.
Doors will open at 11 a.m. Play will begin at 1 p.m. Total prize money offered is $10,800 for the session. Admission is $10 for 10 (nine face-card) games, $20 for 20 games and $30 for 30 games.
Sam McVay, administrator of the facility, said all proceeds from the bingo will go toward helping the 147 men and three women who are living in the facility.
"Any profits from this Saturday's Super Bingo will be used to provide for personal needs for the indigent veterans we care for at the Cape home and to pay for the outings, trips and other outside and in-house recreation activities," said McVay.
McVay said, "The Missouri legislature enacted, effective Jan. 1, a five-year, 3 percent tax on bingo gross receipts for the sole purpose of constructing new veterans homes in the state and for the rebuilding of the nearly 100-year-old St. James facility."
