'BIG PICTURE' CONFERENCE TODAY

Dr. Karen Brown Dunlap, associate dean of faculty and trustee of the Poynter Institute for Media Studies in St. Petersburg, Fla., will deliver the keynote address at today's "Big Picture at the Forefront" conference at Southeast Missouri State University.

The event, sponsored by the university's mass communication department, will be held in conjunction with the Southeast Missouri Press Association's 109th annual meeting.

The conference will let Southeast students and media professionals share information about internships, jobs and careers.

Dunlap will speak at 11 a.m. in the University Center Ballroom. Mike Smythe, general manager of Cape Girardeau television station KFVS-12, will be one of several speakers at the daylong conference. Smythe will discuss television advertising.
