The best-selling author focuses her ministry on women and their relationship with God.
Carla Tilley remembers being awed by the humbleness of Living Proof Live speaker Beth Moore bowing on the floor to pray at a conference in 2003.
"She's such an inspired speaker," said Tilley, of Cape Girardeau. "She helps you to understand scriptures so much easier."
Tilley, who has twice seen Moore speak in person, will watch this year's conference at Cape Bible Chapel via simulcast from New York City.
The church is inviting the rest of community to participate as well in the satellite conference, which is scheduled for Oct. 7 and 8. Around 600 seats are available for the two-day event; 200 tickets have already been sold, said Tilley. The tickets, which cost $26, are on sale until Sept. 15.
Moore, a Bible teacher and best-selling author, focuses her ministry on women and their relationship with God.
On her Web site, www.lifeway. com/livingproof, Moore says the growing response to her work is encouraging, but that she is troubled that many believers seem to be merely "getting by" rather than fully experiencing the promise of the scripture.
"I see so many believers walking in defeat and not walking in the power of God's word," said Moore. "We have the truth, we've been given the truth, but does it abide in us? Only when it abides in us will our joy be full, according to John 15."
Tilley said many members of Southeast Missouri churches have participated in Moore's conferences, which are held throughout the United States.
"She'll keep you in stitches," said Tilley. "She's very funny yet very dedicated and passionate."
