A benefit event for the family of 9-year-old accident victim Ricky Hale will be held from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday at Western Sizzlin' parking lot in Cape Girardeau. A rummage sale will begin at 10 a.m. with an auction at 1 p.m.
Hale was killed last week on a backyard swing. Proceeds from the benefit will go toward funeral expenses.
Activities for the event will be provided by Air Evac of St. Francis Medical Center, Cape Girardeau County Sheriffs Department, Cape Girardeau Police Department, Mid America Transplant, and Gospel singing by David Hodge, representative for Christian Record Services.
Many children's activities are planned.
Auction items are donated by St. Francis Medical Center, Southeast Hospital, and Mid American Transplant.
Items for the rummage sale may be brought to Western Sizzlin' between 10:30 a.m. and 9 p.m. daily. No clothes will be taken. Storage for the sale items is donated by T.J. Trucking Exchange.
