Sharon Bebout will be the featured speaker Saturday as the local branch of the American Association of University Women has its final meeting before a summer recess.

The luncheon meeting, to start at 11:30 a.m., will be held in the Garden Room of Cedar Street, Drury Lodge. Although it will be an order-from-the-menu meal, those planning to attend are asked to call Avon Crocker, program coordinator, at 335-3013.

Bebout, who is a director of theatre at Southeast Missouri State University and teaches interpretive reading, will talk about the theatre department's plans for the 1993-94 season, and will perform some of her own work.

She is the author of the ethno-drama, "Walking On Our Knees," based on her heritage as a coal miner's daughter in western Kentucky; she directed the play when it was performed here and earlier at Southern Illinois University, from which she earned her doctoral degree.

Membership in the American Association of University Women is open to any graduate of a four-year college or university; visitors are welcome.

Incoming president, Joan Gones, will take over the gavel at this meeting from Frances Crowley, who has served during the past biennium.
