Mr. G is 82. His 13-year-old companion is a dog named Bear who has been there for him since he became a widower six years ago. Keeping Bear's needs on hand gives Mr. G a sense of security, especially during the winter months. Even though he has a son in the area, he works on the river, so Mr. G. rarely sees him.

Mr. G seldom leaves his home. He had a lung removed in 1996 and needs to be on oxygen. His blood pressure is high, too.

Mr. G lives on a Social Security check. His needs are modest. They include dry dog food, milk bones and dog biscuits for his best friend, Bear.

Bear might even like a toy.

There are a few personal items that would make Mr. G's Christmas special. They include towels, a blue jean shirt in size large or blue jeans in size 38-30.

A Sav-A-Lot, John's Pharmacy or Wal-Mart gift card would surely help him with his groceries, paper goods or personal hygiene products.

For those interested in contributing to the Toybox and Christmas for the Elderly campaigns, new toys and gifts may be delivered to the Southeast Missourian office or area locations.
