JACKSON -- Singer Julie Walker will be the special guest performer at Thursday's Jackson Municipal Band Concert. The free concert starts at 8 p.m. in the band shell at Jackson City Park.
Walker, a 1980 graduate of Southeast Missouri State University and a teacher in the Jackson R-2 School District, will accompany herself on guitar and perform several folk songs and some original compositions.
Walker and her husband, David, and their three children live in Jackson.
The instrumental portions of the concert will include "On an American Spiritual," selections from "Les Miserables," several marches, including "Big Cage," "Bullets and Bayonets," and "March from 1941." The low brass will be featured on "Big Horn Boogie" and the saxophones will be featured on "The Saxophone Rag."
The entrance to the band shell parking lot is off Route D, across from McCombs Funeral Home.
