Course instructor Kathy Casteel says, "The class is geared for "first-time" baby sitters who are teen-agers or pre-teens." The course, developed by the Johnson & Johnson Co., touches on the basics of child safety, feeding, diapering, bathing, bedtime routines and emergency situations.

"Baby-sitting is a great job for young people," Casteel said. "It offers a chance to learn responsibility, make a little money and have some fun at the same time. However, to be qualified for the job, baby sitters should learn all they can about safety and child care before accepting their first baby-sitting assignment."

Registration fee is $5, which includes a sack lunch and drinks. Registration deadline is Monday. To register or for more information, contact Casteel at 339-6970.
