Bob Stone of Cape Girardeau, a respiratory therapy supervisor at St. Francis Medical Center, has been named the hospital's 1991 "Employee of the Year."
Glenn McFadden, executive vice president of the medical center, announced the honor during the recent employee Christmas party.
Stone, a hospital employee since December 1979, was selected through employee balloting conducted the week before the Christmas party. He was selected from a group of employees who had been named employees of the month during the past year.
A native of Rosiclare, Ill., Stone attended Southeastern Illinois Community College and earned a degree in respiratory and cardiopulmonary technology at Maryville College. He was previously employed at St. Joseph's Hospital in Kirkwood and Hardin County General Hospital in Rosiclare.
Stone and his wife, Mary, are parents of five children.

JACKSON Dr. James W. Wills recently attended a two-day seminar at St. Louis, where he participated in an advanced session of technical and practical application of activator methods, a precision light-force-adjusting technique utilized in his chiropractic practice.
Wills studied under Dr. Arlen Fuhr, co-developer of the technique.
Wills has met the highest level of training attainable in the use of the technique. His name has been placed into a worldwide referral directory system of chiropractors trained in activator methods.

Alvin H. Bess, president of Bluff City Beer Co. headquartered at Poplar Bluff, has been elected to the Missouri Beer Wholesalers Association (MBWA) Board of Directors.
The MBWA is an association to promote business standards and practices that enable its members to operate with greater economy and efficiency. It also promotes fellowship among members of the industry.

Donna Hart Goodson has become a member of the American Society of Hand Therapists (ASHT).
Goodson, a co-owner of The Hand Center, 48 Doctors' Park, has been a practicing occupational therapist for six years, and has specialized in upper extremity rehabilitation for three years.
The hand therapists group, founded in 1977, promotes advancement of the speciality of hand therapy through education, research and clinical standards. ASHT has more than 1,200 members worldwide.

SCOTT CITY Ronald D. Throop of Scott City was honored by United Parcel Service for his 20 years of service with the company.
Throop is a tractor-trailer truck driver for UPS in Sikeston. He started with the firm in 1971.
Throop and his wife, Paula, have two children, Britne, 14, and Ashley, 7.

Jacqueline D. Griffith of Scott City is one of 11 Union Electric Co. employees who were honored recently during the YWCA Leader Lunch Banquet at Hyatt Regency in downtown St. Louis.
The YWCA event recognizes working women at all organizational levels in all fields for outstanding work performance and community service.
Griffith is confidential secretary for UE in its southeast district.
Also recognized was Paducah, Ky.-native Debra H. Janoski, attorney in the UE legal department at Webster Groves.
