Ron Hill, director of store development, and Ben Stafford, a warehouse worker, have been named Spirit of the Creed award winners for 1992 at Wetterau Food Distribution Group, Scott City Division.
Hill has been with Wetterau 18 years. Hill and his wife, Paula, reside in Cape Girardeau.
Stafford started with Wetterau in 1975. He and his wife, Amy, reside in Jackson.

Peter J. Gordon, professor of marketing in the department of marketing at Southeast Missouri State University, recently attended a two-day program on the specialty advertising industry in St. Louis.
The program, entitled "Very Important Professor," was sponsored by Specialty Advertising Association International. It was designed to educate university professors on the capabilities and trends of the $5 billion industry.
The show included a tour of trade show exhibits.

Jim Gosche, vice president of First Financial Bank of Southeast Missouri at Oran, has completed the final year of the three-year program at the graduate School of Banking at the University of Colorado-Boulder.
Gosche was among more than 470 persons who attended the 42nd session of the school, which is one of seven graduate schools of banking in the United States. The school includes three years of two-week summer sessions, and students receive a diploma of graduation upon completing the on-campus course work, interim correspondence research projects, exams and bank management course work.
Gosche, a graduate of Oran High School and Southeast Missouri State University, has 17 years of lending experience. He has worked with Production Credit Association, Centerre Bank of Cape Girardeau, Tamms (Ill.) State Bank and First Financial Bank.

Linda Springs of JCPenney Cosmetics Department has received the Bronze Certificate awarded by Color Me Beautiful for outstanding achievement as an image consultant for 1990-91.
Springs was consistent in outstanding performance and reached her goals of color analysis each month, recording a 25 percent gain over last year's sales.

She has completed a comprehensive examination on accounting and related subjects and the required two years of management accounting experience.
In achieving the CMA certificate, Launhardt displayed proficiency in many facets of accounting and financial management.

Melvin J. Van de Ven, CPA, a partner in the firm of Schott & Van de Ven, has been accepted into the TAX CEA program sponsored by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
To be accepted into the program, an enrollee must have extensive tax experience and knowledge acquired through experience or education in the fields of tax research, procedure and policy, taxation of individuals, partnership, partners, shareholders and corporations, estate, gift and trust taxation.
Van de Ven has three years to complete 96 hours of CPE courses of specialized training.

Cape Girardeau County Prosecuting Attorney Morley Swingle recently published an article on criminal conspiracy law in the Missouri Bar Journal.
The Missouri Bar Journal noted that in coming years, criminal conspiracy cases in Missouri should increase in number due to additional training law enforcement officers are receiving statewide. Swingle's article provides prosecutors, judges and the practicing bar with an overview of current criminal conspiracy law in Missouri.
Swingle received his law degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 1980.
The Journal of the Missouri Bar is the official publication of the state bar. It is published eight times a year, and is distributed to all of the nearly 9,000 members of the Missouri Bar, as well as most law schools across the country.

Dr. William M. Catt of Jackson has been elected president of the Southeast Missouri Chiropractic Association, District IV, of the Missouri Chiropractic Association.
The state association was founded in 1913 with headquarters in Jefferson City.
The local chapter has about 66 members.

Wendy Wessel of Jackson has received the Cape Girardeau County Legal Secretaries Association scholarship.
Wessel, who is attending Southeast Missouri State University, will complete her program of administrative assistant/legal assistant in December. She has worked part-time at the Buerkle, Beeson and Ludwig law firm the past three years and also works part-time at the Pizza Hut in Jackson.
Wessel, a native of the Jackson area, is a graduate of Jackson High School.

Patsy Green, office manager and reimbursement specialist of the Cape Girardeau offices of I.V. Care Inc., recently attended a workshop at the Missouri Medicaid office in Jefferson City.
Also attending the seminar were Roger Champ, clinical pharmacist at the Cape Girardeau office, and Cheryl Buttry, office manager and reimbursement specialist at the Poplar Bluff office.
Topics at the workshop included billing procedures, updates on ways to expedite Missouri Medicaid reimbursement, and instructions on all prior authorization forms.
