PERRYVILLE -- Robert A. Chronister II of Friedheim has been named "Employee of the Year" by the Missouri Hotel and Motel Association (MHMA).
Chronister, employed at the Best Western Colonial Inn in Perryville, was nominated for the honor by Jeff Volkerding, general manager of the inn.
Chronister received his award from Charles L. Jones, executive vice president of the MHMA recently during the association's annual meeting held at Lake Ozark.
Chronister, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert A. Chronister of Friedheim, attends Southeast Missouri State University.

Willard Cohen, commercial loan officer at Mercantile Bank of Cape Girardeau, recently graduated from Commercial Lending School.
The school, sponsored by the American Bankers Association, was held at the University of Oklahoma at Norman.

Erwin Fritsche of Cape Girardeau, was a winner in the three-axle class of the Missouri Truck Driving Championships held recently at the John Q. Hammons Trade Center in Joplin.
Fritsche, a driver for Wetterau, Inc., qualified for competition at the National Truck Driving Championships which will be held in August at Nashville, Tenn.
State competition was conducted in eight classes.
The "Team Championship" went to Wetterau, Inc. Wetterau drivers from Cape Girardeau, Kansas City, Shawnee, Kan., and St. Charles captured first place in five classes.

Three American Family Insurance agents from Cape Girardeau and Jackson have been selected for "Top Agent" honors for 1991.
Ken Voepel, an American Family agent at Cape Girardeau since 1978; Jerry Welch, an agent at Cape Girardeau since 1981 and Brad Teets, an agent at Jackson since 1982, were among agents selected to attend the All American Convention, held in Honolulu, Hawaii, where they were honored for their performance.
American Family Insurance, founded in 1927, has more than five million policies in force. The firm is headquartered in Madison, Wis.

Sheila Faire, a silk designer at Toni's Flower House in Cape Girardeau, recently attended an interior design workshop sponsored by Florist Transworld Delivery (FTD).
The workshop was conducted at the Sheraton Inn, Westport Plaza, St. Louis.
Many areas of design, designing history and its influence on today's styles were discussed.
The seminar is a part of Toni's ongoing education series, which is designed to equip its sales and design staff to better serve customers.

Jim Dufek, assistant professor and TV operations manager at Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau, recently completed the requirements for a degree of Doctor of Philosophy at Southern Illinois University School of Journalism at Carbondale.
Dufek's dissertation analyzed "The Relationship between Religious Television and Local Church Attendance."
Dufek, his wife, Suzanne, and sons, Joseph and Jacob, reside in Cape Girardeau.
