Southeast Missouri Hospital Administrator James W. Wente has been named to an eighth term as vice chairman of the Missouri Hospital Association Finance and Budget Committee.
The committee studies financial issues confronting Missouri hospitals and studies and makes recommendations pertaining to MHA financial matters to the organization's board of trustees. In addition to his work with the MHA Finance and Budget Committee, Wente has been named a member of the Council of Finance for the MHA. He has served as president of the MHA's District VII, which includes 19 hospitals in Southeast Missouri.
Wente is a member of the American College of Health Care Executives, Health Care Financial Management Association, American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and Missouri Society of Certified Public Accounts. He has served on the Board of Directors of Management Service Corp., a subsidiary corporation of the MHA.
His community involvement includes service on the Investment Advisory Committee for the city of Cape Girardeau.

JACKSON Nelson L. Stone, doctor of veterinary medicine and mixed animal practitioner at Jackson, has been named to a fourth term as secretary-treasurer of the Missouri Veterinary Medical Association. The appointment was made during the recent 100th annual meeting of the organization at Osage Beach.
The MVMA is a statewide organization of more than 900 members.
Stone, a graduate of the University of Missouri College of Veterinary Medicine, is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, Missouri Veterinary Medical Association, American Association of Bovine Practitioners, American Association of Swine Practitioners, Society for Theriogenology, and Southeast Missouri VMA. He has served as president of the SEMO VMA and is past president of the Missouri Veterinary Alumni Association.

Dr. Frank McGinty recently attended a two-day workshop on advanced paroscopic techniques for surgeons at Marietta, Ga.
McGinty earned 16 continuing education credit hours for attending the session. Advanced techniques in the removal of the gallbladder and appendix, treatment of ulcer disease through the laparoscope, and intestinal surgery were among topics discussed.
The seminar was sponsored by Education Design Inc. of Denver, Colo. Instructors were Drs. Eddie J. Reddick and William Saye, surgeons who were instrumental in the performance of the first laparoscopic cholecystectomy in the U.S.

Dr. Khonda Andrews was guest speaker at the Midwest River City Chapter of the American Association of Medical Transcriptionist meeting held recently at St. Francis Medical Center.
Andrews, a graduate of Logan Chiropractic College of St. Louis, operates Andrews Chiropractic Center at Jackson. He discussed occupational health risks and how to reduce them in the workplace.
