SIKESTON Dr. and Mrs. T.J. Feeler, owners of the Tilghman Clinic in Sikeston, which specializes in auditory integration therapy, have received a 1992 Excellence in Business Award from the Missouri Small Business Development Center.
The clinic, the only one in Missouri outside a metropolitan area that provides a hearing enhancement process linked to the treatment of persons with various learning, behavioral or other disorders, opened in August.
The staff of the Small Business Development Center at Southeast Missouri State University helped the Feelers develop a business plan and get a loan guaranteed by the Small Business Administration.

Dr. William Thorpe has returned from Bologna, Italy, where he lectured on "Indication on Laser in Orthopaedic Surgery" during the annual conference of the Italian Knee Surgery Society.
The conference included participants from Europe and the U.S. The surgeons attending were primarily interested in sports medicine. Thorpe's topic concerned the clinical use of lasers in sports pathology.
Thorpe is affiliated with Orthopaedic Associates in Cape Girardeau, where his primary interest is treatment of sports injuries. He is the team physician for Southern Illinois University-Carbondale and Southeast Missouri State University.

Keith Russell, associate professor of accounting and finance at Southeast Missouri State University, recently attended a Performance Evaluation of Industry symposium.
The event was sponsored by the Committee on Academic Relations of the Institute of Management Accounting and the American Accounting Association.
The event brought together 85 business leaders and educators from across the nation to discuss cases developed by industry leaders about how their firms evaluate performance.
