The Area Wide United Way and Ameritech are co-sponsoring the ninth annual Volunteer Awards program to recognize people and organizations that have had a significant impact on the community by giving of their time and energy.

Deadline for nominations is Monday. Forms have been mailed to service clubs, organizations, churches and charitable and non-profit organizations in the area. Others may obtain nomination forms by calling the United Way at 334-9634.

Volunteers will be judged in three categories: youth-young adult, ages 25 and younger; adult, 26-59; and senior adult, 60 and older. A fourth category will recognize groups or organizations for their efforts.

Judging criteria will include performing a vital volunteer service with emphasis on volunteerism in 1995.

Winners will be announced at an April 23 luncheon.
