LAKE OF THE OZARKS -- The Missouri Association for Counseling and Development (MACD) presented Walter W. Davidson posthumously the first Walter W. Davidson Award at the annual meeting of the MACD last weekend.
The award was presented at a special ceremony at the Lake of the Ozarks.
Davidson, a former faculty member and coordinator of the guidance and counseling program in the College of Education at Southeast Missouri State University, was a charter member of MACD. He served as ethics committee chairman, president of the state organization and member of the Governing Council of the American Association for Counseling and Development (AACD) from 1985 to 1988. He was re-elected to a three-year term in 1990, serving until his death on Dec. 10 of that year.
Davidson's widow, Clara M. Davidson, 1706 Fremont in Cape Girardeau, accepted the award.
The organization plans to present the award annually to the outstanding Missouri licensed professional counselor.
