The Cape Girardeau/Bollinger County Major Case Squad identified Andrel L. Dolpin, 17, of Cape Girardeau as the victim in a fatal shooting Thursday night in the 200 block of North Lorimier Street in Cape Girardeau.

Dolpin was taken to a hospital with what appeared to be a single gunshot wound. He later was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Dolpin was with Daryus Watson, 18, and two other friends at the Lorimont House Apartment complex when a shooter pulled up in a vehicle and fired several shots, Watson said.

Watson said there were at least six to seven shots fired, and Dolpin was struck in the upper chest by the fourth shot.

Neighbors said there could have been 10 shots or more fired. Watson identified the shooter as a younger white man.

The group ran and ended up in the KFVS-TV parking lot, where Cape Girardeau officers and EMTs began treating Dolpin before he was taken to a hospital.

Watson said he was worried about his friend, but he did not think he was going to die because Dolpin was conscious, looking at Watson when he talked to him and vocalizing his pain.

Cape Girardeau public information officer Adam Glueck said there was no known link to the shooting Thursday night to the body of Domorlo Morris McCaster, 28, of Cape Girardeau being found about 4 p.m. Thursday in Ranney Park.

The Major Case Squad is investigating Dolpin’s shooting.
