SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- Firefighters battling a blaze at an apartment house on Springfield's west side found a man's body inside.

Firefighters found the body of Adrian Michael Pugh, 31, Thursday afternoon as they searched through thick smoke inside the apartment house. Pugh was a resident there.

Until Pugh's brother arrived at the scene, Rowell said, firefighters did not know that anyone was still inside the house.

No cause for the fire has been determined, Assistant Fire Chief Barry Rowell said, but authorities do not suspect foul play.

An autopsy is planned to determine how Pugh died.
