A Cape Girardeau man was in the Cape Girardeau County Jail Monday afternoon facing three counts of first-degree statutory sodomy.
Jeffrey Daniel Anderson, 26, allegedly molested the 6-year-old daughter of his live-in girlfriend, according to police and prosecutors.
Anderson was arrested Saturday after Cape Girardeau police responded to a call of a domestic dispute at his residence at 426 Middle St., Apt. A, Friday night. According to patrolman Jason Selzer, Anderson and the woman were fighting because the child had told her mother Anderson molested her.
A probable cause statement filed by the police department said Anderson admitted in an interview he molested the child on several occasions.
During the interview Anderson also said he had child pornography on his computer.
The Cape Girardeau County prosecutor's office is charging Anderson with at least three separate incidents of molestation spanning back to Dec. 1.
Assistant prosecuting attorney Angel Woodruff said the charges against Anderson are some of the "most serious offenses" when it comes to sex crimes.
Woodruff said charges haven't been filed for the alleged child pornography yet, but they could be forthcoming.
Anderson was arraigned Monday and remained in the jail on $50,000 bond. A preliminary hearing is set for May 12.
