KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Kansas City fire officials say at least 11 people were taken to hospitals with serious injuries after a fire at a senior citizens apartment complex.
The Kansas City Star reported the fire Saturday at the Paraclete Manor was contained to one apartment but caused thick, heavy smoke to rise and reduce visibility on the upper floors of the 163-unit complex.
Battallion chief Jimmy Walker said some of the residents might be displaced at least for the night.
A cause of the fire has not been released.
