The award recognizes outstanding achievement in appellate practice by young members of the bar. The award is named after the late Judge Dixon.

Iles primarily handles state tax cases in the Missouri Supreme Court and circuit courts. She has been in her position since 1987, having previously been a clerk for Judge Charles B. Blackmar of the state Supreme Court.

She received her bachelor's degree in international studies in 1979 from George Washington University in Washington D.C., and her law degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 1986.

Iles is the daughter of Melva Rose Lewis and the late Francis Lewis. She graduated from Cape Girardeau Central High School in 1975, and now lives in Ashland.
