Volunteers will try to wrap up a community asset mapping project Saturday in Cape Girardeau.
"Walk the Walk: The Extra Mile Day," sponsored by the Community Caring Council's Community Partnership Resource Board, will cover "the blocks we couldn't get to" in the first neighborhood survey in March, said Jo Boyer, who is coordinating the project.
Volunteers surveyed about 1,000 households in the neighborhoods served by Franklin, Washington, Jefferson and May Greene schools in the first survey, Boyer said.
The survey identifies strengths and needs in each neighborhood in an effort to identify and design needed services, she said.
Volunteers should meet at 8 a.m. at Franklin Elementary School for breakfast and training before heading out for the door-to-door surveys.
Volunteers can earn $40 to be donated to the charity, youth group or non-profit organization of their choice for participating in the survey.
