They have commissioned new works from such diverse composers as Frank Zappa, Paquito D'Rivera, Pulitzer Prize-winner Robert Ward and 8-year-old Julliard student Lawrence Tai.

The musicians are Barli Nugent (flute), Robert Ingliss (oboe), Todd Levy (clarinet), Chris Komer (horn) and Susan Heineman (bassoon).

The members have given master classes at Julliard, Hartt, Princeton, Stanford, the Chautauqua Institution, Aspen Music School and Algiers National Conservatory, and have recorded for BMG.

The New York Times called the quintet "one of the best ensembles of its kind," the Washington Post deemed it "a class act."
