The Southeast Missourian asked students at West Lane Elementary School, "Why should Americans be thankful?"
Jerrica Houchins: "The Pilgrims had something to eat at the very first Thanksgiving. We should be thankful because we have something to eat, and we should also help those who don't."
Jordan Janet: "We are a free country. We can decide what religion we want and who we want to choose for president. We have lots of choices."
Bobby Covington: "We have a great United States and great people to help us with our future. I feel glad that we are able to do things that we want to do, and also some things others want us to do."
Trisha Kluesner: "Americans should be thankful because of all the good things we have, such as good schools and places where we can shop. We can go wherever and whenever we want."
Ryan Pensel: "I am thankful because we live in a free country. We can do what we want to do, and we can also go where we want."
