The Southeast Missourian asked people how they felt about increased commercial development on Highway 61, East Jackson Blvd.
Liz Abernathy: "It is needful. A lot of the land along Highway 61 would be good to develop as commercial. It's an advantage for businesses to have the traffic count and visibility there."
Sandy Schilling: "I think it's wonderful. People who drive down the highway see new businesses coming in, and it makes them more aware of other businesses along the highway, so they check it out."
Marci Mann: "I am impressed by it. I think that having more commercial development along the highway will increase business for all of the shops."
Marie Kirn: "I don't like it, but I expect it to happen. The more businesses you have, the busier it will get. It's good for Jackson business, though, and I guess it's the price we have to pay for progress."
Charles Cox: "For the economy of the community, it is good. As a citizen living in Jackson, I don't particularly like the idea, but it's necessary."
