The Southeast Missourian asked people what they thought about a bill being considered in the Missouri General Assembly that would make it legal for farmers to grow industrial hemp.
Nique Sawyer: "I'm against drugs, but if they could do it in a controlled way for commercial uses, I would be in favor of it."
Vernon Davault: "As far as I'm concerned, they can grow it if they want to. They ship processed hemp into our country already, so it would be a good farm crop."
Leslie Cashion: "I am totally against it. I don't think they should legalize it for agriculture. It's not worth it."
Jackie Waites: "I'm cautious about anything that could be used with a drug effect. We have other things we can grow, so I'm opposed to our state promoting this."
Ray Markham: "It's a good idea. The hemp industry would create a lot of jobs. You can make hats, clothes, paper, even fuel for cars from hemp."
