The Southeast Missourian asked people about areas of traffic congestion in Jackson which they try to avoid.
Karyn Beattie: "It is really difficult to get through the intersection of Route 72, Highway PP and Farmington in the afternoon when school is getting out. Traffic gets backed up to the stoplight."
Hope Thompson: "On Highway 72 from Pioneer to the railroad track it's really bad between 7:30 and 8 in the morning. The traffic moves at about five miles an hour then. It's like you are in the city."
Mary Beussink: "The intersection by the post office, at Highway 61 and Main Street is especially bad from 4 to 5 p.m. It's backed up pretty far and cars are trying to cross. I have seen wrecks along there."
Clomer Lannom: "It can get pretty bad at Shawnee Drive and East Jackson Boulevard, about 7 or 8 in the morning and at rush hour. Cars get backed up on Old Cape Road waiting to get to Highway 61."
Ruby Hitt: "You can hardly get out from Farmington onto Highway 72 because the traffic is often so heavy back to Kasten Masonry. I try to avoid it and go to East Main and go out with all the stop signs."
