The Arts Council of Southeast Missouri announced its new members and officers for the 1996 Board of Directors at their Annual Membership meeting last Saturday. The officers will serve a one-year term, and board members will serve terms varying from one to three years.

Officers for the 1996 Arts Council Board of Directors are Chuck McGinty as chairman, Marge Nichols Sullivan as vice-chairman, Marta Green as secretary and Leland "Freck" Shivelbine as treasurer.

Additional board members are, from Jackson, Herb Wickham; from Cape Girardeau, Sandy Bonner, Donna Domian, Mike Dumey, Danny Essner, Lee Ann Hansen, Louise Ridgeway, Edwin Smith, Bob Steinberg and Cherie Worth; and from Scott City, Bill Davis.

The three newest members of the board are Danny Essner of Boatmen's Bank, Lee Ann Hansen of Hansen's Collectibles, and Dr. Edwin Smith of Southeast Missouri State University's Art Department.

Arts Council Board members are nominated by a Nominating Committee, but membership on the Board and in the Arts Council is open to everyone. The monthly board meetings are also open to the public.

The Arts Council of Southeast Missouri is a not-for-profit organization whose mission is to provide a forum for area residents to explore, reflect and share in the diversity and excitement of the arts. By showcasing the arts, the Council invites life-long participation, stimulates the exchange of new ideas and promotes awareness that the arts are for everyone.
