CAPE GIRARDEAU - Southeast Missouri Council on the Arts is forming a visual artists guild. Two organizational meetings will be held Tuesday at 1:30 and 7 p.m. at Gallery 100, 100 Broadway.
Artists and hobbiests are encouraged to attend either meeting.
Beverly Strohmeyer, executive director of the arts council, said, "Artists from Cape Girardeau, Jackson, Dexter, Oran, Old Appleton, Chaffee and Anna, Ill. attended the first meetings, held last month. They spent the time discussing their needs and sharing their work."
Lectures, demonstrations, and workshops are planned. Topics include "How to Take Slides of Artwork," "Presentation Techniques," such as matting and framing and workshops by professional artists.
"Meetings will be scheduled to avoid conflicting with art guilds meeting in Sikeston and Perryville," said Strohmeyer. "Artists will benefit most by staying in touch with all the organizations."
The first program meeting will be in May with Pat Reagan-Woodard, director of the Southeast Missouri State University Museum. She will explain the museum's acquisition process.
