Watercolors, Intalio, paper-cuts, collage, oil on canvas, pastels, seriographs and more works of fine art have been collected from across the United States for the Art Experience '94 Exhibition at Gallery 100.
The artwork in the exhibit is coming from Maine, California, North Carolina, Tennessee, Alaska, Oklahoma, and other states in between.
Gallery 100 will open the exhibit with a reception on Friday, June 3, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. The openings are open to the public. All Gallery 100 events are free of charge.
"Stop by for a little wine and cheese to start your weekend," said Laura Brothers, Administrative Assistant at the SEMO Council on the Arts.
Art Experience national juried show, a competition to exhibit at Gallery 100, has been sponsored annually since 1989 by the Southeast Missouri Council on the Arts. Sidney Larson, a professional art juror from Columbia, Mo., was hired to select the best artwork from 254 submitted slides.
The 30 pieces selected for the exhibit represent Larson's appreciation of "expressive content" and "remarkable quality of excellent work."
Local artists exhibiting in Art Experience '94 are Nancy Buttry of Wappapello, Aaron Horrell of Chaffee, Lee Spalt of Cobden, Ill., and Tim Tanz of Cape Girardeau.
Art Experience '94 will remain on display June 3-24. Regular Gallery 100 hours are 1 to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Other hours can be arranged by appointment. Call Beverly or Laura at 334-9233.
