Arkansas man charged in fatal stabbing at Branson motel

BRANSON, Mo. -- A 52-year-old man from Little Rock, Ark., was charged Wednesday in the stabbing death of another Arkansas man last month at a Branson motel in a fight over money.

Taney County prosecutor Jeff Merrell said Terry Lynn Huey, 52, faces a possible maximum term of life in prison on three felony counts of second-degree murder, armed criminal action and unlawful use of a weapon.

Huey allegedly plunged a long-bladed hunting knife into the chest of Dewayne Anthony Lynn, 48, of Harrison, Ark., according to court papers filed by police investigators.

Lynn was found bleeding outside the motel office about 10 p.m. July 19. The knife had severed a major artery, and he died after being taken to a hospital.

Lynn's death was the first killing this year in the resort town and only the third since 2000.

Merrell said he is seeking a bond of $500,000 for Huey, who is in jail in nearby Boone County, Ark., on an unrelated charge.

Police investigators said in court papers that Huey had acknowledged he was at the crime scene just prior to the stabbing, and that he fought with Lynn over money that Lynn owed him. Police also said that Lynn's blood was found on a knife in Huey's possession.

Huey had not entered a plea as of Wednesday afternoon, according to court records.
