Four people were injured in two separate motor vehicle accidents Thursday in Cape Girardeau County.

The first happened at 2:40 p.m., three miles east of Fruitland on Highway 177. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Glen Ford, 79, of Pocahontas was injured when his vehicle was struck while he was attempting to make a left turn north onto County Road 553.

Police said Stephen Walton, 22, of Jackson was traveling east on 177 and was attempting to pass another vehicle when he struck Ford's car. Walton reported minor injuries but refused treatment by medical personnel at the scene.

Ford's wife, Rosemary Ford, 70, a passenger in his vehicle, was also injured in the accident.

The Fords were taken to Southeast Missouri Hospital where Glen Ford was listed in fair condition Thursday night and Rosemary Ford was classified as stable.

The second accident occurred at 5 p.m. on Route Y five miles north of Cape Girardeau. Police said Elizabeth Raglin, 16, of Cape Girardeau lost control of her vehicle as she was traveling east. The car ran off the north side of the road and struck a tree.

Raglin was taken to Southeast Hospital by helicopter.

She was listed in serious condition by the hospital on Thursday night.
