The sixth annual competition for the title of 1993 Miss Riverfest will be held Friday at 6 p.m. The competition will center on the main stage downtown.
Miss Riverfest will be judged on poise, personality, overall appearance, modeling, formal wear and a short interview. There will be five area judges. The Riverfest Queen will be in the parade on Saturday and will reign over the weekend's activities.
Little Miss Riverfest '92, Jessica Eftink of Leopold, and Miss Riverfest 1992, Michelle Brooks of Campbell, will co-host the pageant.
This year's contestants include:
Jennifer McDowell, 16, of Sikeston is a sophomore at Sikeston Senior High. She is a member of the biology club, conservation club and the senior high marching band. She likes to watch high school wrestling matches, and baseball games and does modeling for local businesses. She is the daughter of Eddie and Christy McDowell.
LaDonna Perr, 14, of Scott City, is a freshman at Scott City High School. She enjoys school football and basketball games. Some of her hobbies include reading, watching TV, and being with friends. She is the daughter of Howard and Debbie Perr.
Wendy Buchhaus, 17, of Perryville is a junior at St. Vincent School. She is a member of SADD and Pep Club. Some of her hobbies include, sewing, reading, and going to movies. She is the daughter of Julie Brickhaus.
Teresa Chandler, 18, of Perryville is a senior at Perryville High School. She is a member of FBLA, captain of the flag corp. She enjoys being with friends, family, and dancing. She plans to attend Southeast Missouri State University after graduation. She is the daughter of Deana Chandler.
Jill Womick, 18, of Murphsyboro, Ill. is a senior at Carbondale High school. Her school activities include varsity tennis, student senate, TABS. Her hobbies are tennis and making jewelry. She plans to attend Centenary College of Louisiana this fall. She is the daughter of John and Jane Womick.
Heather Verhines, 17, of Jackson, is a junior at Jackson High School. Some of her hobbies are playing the piano, water skiing, aerobics, and playing soccer. She enjoys going to football and baseball games and being with her family. She is the daughter of Michelle Chavez and Brad Verhines.
Brandi Leonard, 16, of Jackson, is a sophomore at Jackson High School. She enjoys going to school activities and supporting her school teams. Her hobbies include being with friends, playing volleyball and tennis. She is the daughter of Peggy Leonard.
Tammy Fornkohl, 17, of Cape Girardeau is a junior at Cape Central. Her activities include debate and theater. She enjoys swimming and dancing. She is like daughter of Tom and Jane Fornkohl.
Cynthia Grooms, 17, of Morley, is a junior at Notre Dame High School. She is a member of FBLA, SADD, and concert choir. She enjoys playing the piano, singing, reading and babysitting. She plans to attend college and become a psychiatrist. She is the daughter of Janet Grooms.
Jessica Wagner, 17, of Cape Girardeau is a junior at Cape Central High. She is a member of school orchestra, National Honor Society, DECA, drama club, and color guard. She enjoys horseback riding, playing the violin, ballet, aerobics, canoe trips and camping. She is the daughter of Roger and Ann Wagner.
Patty Nance, 17, of Cape Girardeau is a member of National Honors Society, National Vocational Technical Honor Society. She enjoys exercising, working, and modeling. She is the daughter of Michael Nance.
Jody Wagner, 15, of Cape Girardeau is a freshman at Cape Central. She is a member of the school marching band and drama. Her hobbies include horseback riding, going to dances, and playing the piano. She is the daughter of Roger and Ann Wagner.
Kristy Ann McLain, 15, of Cape Girardeau, is a freshman at Cape Central. Her school activities include track and R.O.C.K. Her hobbies are playing the piano, doing crafts, and horseback riding. She is the daughter of David and Phillis McLain.
Christina Brumbaugh, 15, of Cape Girardeau is a sophomore at Jackson High School. She is a member of FHA, SADD, and Debate club. She enjoys collecting Marilyn Monroe memorabilia, and singing. She is the daughter of Robert and Paula Brumbaugh.
Marissa LeeAnn Morris, 17, of Risco, is a senior at Risco High School. She was the school's feature twirler and a cheerleader. She also is involved with SADD, student council and collects Marilyn Monroe memorabilia. She is the daughter of Teresa and Frank Kinder.
Keri Edwards, 17, of Perryville, is a junior at Perryville High School. At school, she is president of band council, drum majorette, and a member of the executive board for Project Graduation. Her hobbies include water skiing, reading, playing bass clarinet, and riding horses. She is the daughter of John and Diana Edwards.
