AREA TEENAGER ATTENDED BOYS STATE HELD IN JUNE

John H. Cochran IV, of Cape Girardeau, was among students attending American Legion Boys State of Missouri June 12-19 on the campus of Central Missouri State University At Warrensburg.

Those attending learned about the workings of government through hands-on experience. It is run as a democracy, and all participants may vote and are eligible to hold office.

Cochran, a student at Cape Girardeau Central High School, is the son of John and Bonnie Cochran.

He is a member of the National Honor Society, marching and jazz bands, yearbook staff, Who's Who Among American High School Students. He is also an Eagle Scout and was recently honors with a I rating at state music competition for a piano solo. He is also a member of the choir at Grace Methodist Church in Cape Girardeau.
