Cochran, a student at Cape Girardeau Central High School, is the son of John and Bonnie Cochran.

He is a member of the National Honor Society, marching and jazz bands, yearbook staff, Who's Who Among American High School Students. He is also an Eagle Scout and was recently honors with a I rating at state music competition for a piano solo. He is also a member of the choir at Grace Methodist Church in Cape Girardeau.
