The National Council of Teachers of English announces the appointment of Ellen Lukens, a teacher at R.O. Hawkins Junior High School in Jackson, as a regional judge for the 1994 NCTE Achievement Awards in Writing.
Through this nationally recognized competition, approximately 800 high school seniors are cited for excellence in writing and are recommended to colleges and universities for admission and for financial aid, if need. Over four thousand students have been nominated for Achievement Awards in 1994. Results of the contest are to be announced in October.
