Andrea Brown, regional superintendent of schools for Alexander, Johnson, Massac, Pulaski and Union counties, has announced student appointments to the 1997 regional high school band.
Sixty-two students were selected for the band, which brings together the most dedicated and outstanding musical talent from the 12 high schools in the five-county region. Each student will participate in an all-day workshop on Thursday followed by a performance at the Five-County Educators Institute, which will be held at Shawnee College at 8:30 a.m. Friday.
The band will train and perform under guest director Mike Hanes, band director for Southern Illinois University at Carbondale.
The following students were selected for the band:
Anna-Jonesboro: Blake Aldridge, Jennifer Boatright, Annie Burton, Gretchen Cosby, Caleb Hale, Racheal Harvel, Sarah Hayden, Jennifer Ray, Courtney Richards, Abby Ross.
Cairo: Antoine Bridges, Arnold Burris, Chauncey Hopkins, Keri Howard, Natalie Howard, Kenny Jones, Johnny Posey, Gerald Watkins, James Watkins.
Century: Rachel Blackburn, Tara Huffman, Jasmine Larrison, Justin Partridge, Victoria Rivero, Gabriel Woodard.
Cobden: Emily Clutts, Stephanie Clutts, Josh Davis, Matt Duckworth, Kyle Dunn, Beth Hankla, Sarah Hankla, Jeff Stroehlein.
