Area students earned honors at the ninth annual Missouri Student Mathematics Contest at Southeast Missouri State University.
The five highest scores in each event at each grade level were awarded a ribbon. The first-, second- and third-place winners are eligible to participate in the state contest Saturday.
Two winners were named for each place in each category at each grade level. They are:
Fourth grade:
Computation-estimation: First place, Becky Beussink, Leopold, and Justin Thompson, Jackson; second place, Joseph Ettling, Jackson, and Andrew Collins, Seckman Elementary; third place, Ashley Hahn, St. Denis at Benton, and Andy Arnzen, St. Vincent de Paul in Cape Girardeau.
Concepts: First place, Andrew Collins, Seckman Elementary, and Heather Coray, Perryville; second place, Matt Balsman, Immaculate Conception, and Nathan Brown, St. Paul Lutheran; third place, Andy Arnzen, St. Vincent de Paul, and Becky Beussink, Leopold.

Fifth grade:
