A L.J. Schultz Middle School student placed in the top ten student geographers in the state during a recent State Geography Bee.
Nora Renka, sponsored by Betty Schuetts, was selected as one of the top 100 entrants out of the more than 2000 submitted. At the state competition, she placed in the top ten, for which she received a ribbon and certificate.
Also at L.J. Schultz Middle School, five students at placed first in the nine-county region at the Missouri Math League competition. The students were Wendy Bartosik, Jill McCloskey, Darcy Rigdon, Brandon Belvin and Dane Imerman. Bartosik tied another student with the second highest score in the region.
Out of the 160 schools which participated in the event throughout the state, the L.J. Schultz team placed 22nd.
