Local supporters of U.S. Sen. Barack Obama will gather for a convention watching party beginning at 6 p.m. Thursday at Buffalo Wild Wings, 2136 William St., in Cape Girardeau. Obama will be making his speech accepting the Democratic presidential nomination at Invesco Field, a professional football stadium that seats 75,000. The speech is a break with the tradition, established in 1932 by Franklin Delano Roosevelt, of making a speech in the convention hall. The exact time of the speech has not been announced. The Cape Girardeau party is one of 13 specific locations statewide announced Wednesday by the Obama campaign. In the news release, the campaign said that more than 100 such parties are being organized statewide.
