ST. LOUIS -- Joyce Capshaw has been elected as president of the St. Louis County Bar Association.
She is the daughter of Robert H. Capshaw and Juanita C. Capshaw, both of Chaffee.
She was installed at a ceremony held Jan. 28 at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in St. Louis.
A principal of Carmody, MacDonald, Hilton & Wolf in Clayton, she was installed as the 58th president of the St. Louis County Bar Association. The keynote address at the installation banquet was presented by Ann K. Covington, chief justice of the Missouri Supreme Court.
A graduate of Notre Dame High School in Cape Girardeau, she then earned her bachelor of science degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 1976 and her Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia School of Law in 1982.
She was been associated with Carmody, MacDonald, Hilton & Wolf since graduation, and became a principal in 1987. Her practice is concentrated in civil litigation, with emphasis in domestic relations.
She has been a member of the Executive Committee of the St. Louis County Bar Association since 1988 and has served as the Association's secretary, treasurer, and president-elect. She is also a member of the Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis and the Association of Trial Lawyers of America, the Illinois Bar, the Missouri Bar and the American Bar Association.
