* 10 a.m. to noon Oct. 8, there will be a Fiesta Espanol! for all ages to celebrate Hispanic heritage.

* 2 to 4 p.m. Oct. 12 and 26, Great Books meets in the Hirsch Community Room. Respective titles are "As I Lay Dying," by William Faulkner and "Rising Tide: The Great Mississippi Flood of 1927 and How It Changed America," by John M. Barry. Books may be purchased at local booksellers. Call the library or the Center for Regional History at 651-2555 for more information.

* 7 p.m. Oct. 20, the Knitting Club meets in the Hirsch Community Room. All ages and skill levels are welcome, and participants should bring needles and yarn.

* 7 p.m. Oct. 24, the Poetry Coffee House will explore Celtic poets and and their works.

* 7 p.m. Oct. 27, book discussion group will talk about "Life of Pi" by Yann Martel.

Riverside Regional Library has announced its October children's programs:

* "Get Real @ Your Library," part of Teen Read Week, will be held for young adults 9 and up from Oct. 17 to Oct. 21 at all branches.

* The Jackson branch will hold the "Fall into Books" story time for ages 1 to 8 at 9:30 a.m. Oct. 4 and Oct. 6; "Fall Fairy Tales" storytime for ages 1 to 8 at 9:30 a.m. Oct. 10 and Oct. 13; "Mouse Tales" storytime for ages 1 to 8 at 9:30 a.m. Oct. 18 and Oct. 20; "Pumpkin Party" for ages 9 and up at 3:30 p.m. Oct. 19 (bring your own pumpkin); "Trick or Treat at the Library" at 9:30 a.m. Oct. 31 (wear costumes).

* Perryville branch will hold a "Tricks or Treat, It's Halloween" story time for ages 1 to 8 at 11:30 a.m. Oct. 4; "Fall into Books" story time at 10 a.m. Oct. 20.

* Altenburg branch will hold the "Fall into Books" storytime for ages 1 to 8 at 1:15 and 1:45 p.m. Oct. 4.

* Benton branch will hold the "Fall into Books" storytime for ages 1 to 8 at 3 p.m. Oct. 5.

* Scott City branch will hold the "Fall into Books" storytime for ages 1 to 8 at 1:30 p.m. Oct. 5.

* Oran branch will hold the "Fall into Books" storytime for ages 1 to 8 at 1:15 p.m. Oct. 12.
