Robert Ward of Cape Girardeau, president of the Cape Girardeau Elks Lodge 639, recently attended the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks 135th national convention.
The convention was held in Kansas City and is held to shape programs and policies for the organization which has almost 1.2 million members nationwide.
The Elks have a tradition of philanthropic service, sponsor youth athletic and drug education programs, college scholarships, cancer and transplantation research and veteran's service.
