Doctors/Lawyers softball game canceled
The inaugural Doctors/Lawyers Softball Game will not be played this year due to scheduling conflicts for the participants.
The event originally was scheduled for Aug. 19, but it was rained out.
The committee originally rescheduled the game for this Saturday but has decided to cancel the game this year. Plans are being made to have the game in 2007, although no date has been set.
The event was planned to benefit the Community Counseling Center Foundation, which raises funds for the Community Counseling Center, a not-for-profit mental health care center.
An annual basketball game between the doctors and lawyers, which has been played for 13 years, also raises money for the foundation.
Larry Essner of the Community Counseling Center expressed gratitude to the players who practiced for the event, the umpires, sponsors, the Cape Youth Boys Baseball League and the Cape Girardeau Parks and Recreation Department.
