Area Democrats will host a "Party in the Park" on Saturday to motivate volunteers to get out the vote in the 2006 elections.
The political picnic will be held at Cape Girardeau County Park North, beginning at 11 a.m. Organizers expect a crowd of 100 to 150 people to attend.
Former Missouri secretary of state Bekki Cook, former state representative candidate Patt Sharp of Dunklin County and Cape Girardeau pastor A.G. Green from Rhema Word International Ministries are scheduled to speak at the rally.
Hamburgers, hot dogs and fried fish will be served at the political picnic. The cost is $2 for adults. Children will eat free.
The admission charge is designed to cover costs.
The event is sponsored by the Cape Girardeau Area Democratic Meet Up Group.
Formed in November 2004, the group of about 60 volunteers is working to promote the Democratic Party in Cape Girardeau.
