AREA COUPLE WINS SKATING COMPETITION

A Southeast Missouri couple won first place in pairs figure skating at the Midwestern Sectionals at Denver held last Thursday and Saturday.

Matt Buttrey, 17, of Scott City and Sarah Booth, 13, of Marble Hill qualified for the U.S. Figure Skating Nationals, which will be held Feb. 6 at Providence, R.I.

In October, the couple finished as the top skaters in the regional junior pairs skating competition at Milwaukee. The competition featured skaters from 10 states.
