The Missouri State Highway Patrol and the American Red Cross are holding "Donate for 908" blood drives across Southeast Missouri for Sgt. Brad Lively. Lively, whose badge number is 908, was seriously injured Monday when he was struck by a car on Interstate 55 north of Cape Girardeau.
In Cape Girardeau, the blood drive will be held from 2 to 7 p.m. Monday at the American Red Cross at 20 South Mount Auburn Road.
Other blood drives will be held from 1 to 7 p.m. Friday at the Regional Medical Center in Poplar Bluff and from 1 to 7 p.m. Saturday at the Factory Outlet Stores in Miner.
A fund has also been established to help the Lively family at Bank of Missouri locations in Cape Girardeau, Jackson, Perryville or Marble Hill. Donations can also be mailed to Bank of Missouri, Sgt. Brad Lively Injury Fund, 233 W. Jackson Blvd., Jackson, Mo., 63755.
The fund is based on the interest from the public and is not at the request of the Lively family, said Sgt. Larry Plunket, information officer for the patrol.
The length of Lively's recovery is impossible to predict, Plunkett said, but he is recovering as expected.
Plunkett added that details of Lively's injuries and the procedures that will follow will not be released.
